Super Size Your Cupcake!

Giantcupcake1It was bound to happen sooner or later (and I have say I'm glad it happened sooner rather than later). The cupcake has become a cake! How totally awesome. Wilton has just come out with this pan and I think it looks easier to make than regular ones.
Look here:

Giantcupcake

You just bake it in two pieces and slam it together! Link thanks to the amazing not martha.

I absolutely LOVE this... Too cute! I am definitely going to have to get me one o' them pans!

I LOVE THIS! It is absolutely adorable and would be great for any age! I will definately get this.

This is so precious! Perfect timing too . . . I have a 1st birthday party coming up!!!

Now, that's my kind of cake! I mean, cupcake!

Ok, I really want to get this pan, but know I'm going to be disappointed in my cake decorating abilities! Please help!!

Sara I'm not sure my cake decorating skills qualify me to answer (er, at all) but here's my thought: If you want to make it look like the pic, you'd probably only need one piping thing (just a plain round one--I think you can buy icing with the tips at the grocery store these days) and the big "sprinkles" totally look like Necco wafers. Just pick out the pretty ones! HTH

I really want to get this -- but how do you think you cut it?

How & where do I buy one of these?!

Very Cute! Where can I buy one?

just click on the highlighted word "pan" it will bring you directly to "sur la table" where you can buy one!

I discovered if you go to www.wilton.com they give you step-by-step decorating directions. You just need to select the big cupcake from the pull down menu and a PDF will open. They have a variety of ways to do it too depending on the occasion and/or flavor.

Way too cute! I want it!

You know the candies on top really do look like necco wafers (previously said), but I think a great topping would be those little melting chocolates ...they look just like that and come in so many colors.

The candies on top are supersize confetti quinns available at Walmart and most cake supply stores.

Eileen- I can't find the pull down menu youre talking about.

How would you get cake out of pan? Seems they should of designed bottom of cake to be the other way around and not connected? It should be the way you want it when you flip out of pan? Bet it's not that easy .....but very CUTE!

Nora-you are looking at it wrong. You bake the cake in 2 pieces and put them together just like a layered cake!!! It would be so easy!!!

Can someone help? Eileen you said that Wilton.com has step by step instructions on the Giant Cupcake cake. I am not finding it anywhere. Could you help?

I can't find the decorating instructions either. I have searched the whole site......where is this pdf file??Thanks!

When i saw this huge cupcake I just knew i had to have the pan. I am going to make this cake for my son's 1st birthday. I can't waite. I was wanting something unique and now i have found it.

I found the pdf with decorating instructions! hooray!

Thanks to whomever posted the several links. I saved the recipe in my favorites. I will need to do High Altitude directions. Are there any experienced bakers out there that know if I will need to adjust the measurements of baking sodas, flours, etc?? Thanks!

Where can I get this pan? My son's first birthday is coming up.

Oh My!!! My son would absolutely LOVE this! Also, he would love to help decorate it!!! Thank you for having so much cool stuff in your magazine!

THEY ARE SOLD OUT!!!!

I cant wait to get one!

I decorate cakes on the side and this is one of the best pans I think I have seen in a while. Make sure you grease the inside of the pan and the cake will come right out. Then level it with a knife or cake level. This will help the top part to sit on better. We are just about the celebrate a 1st birthday in a week... check out these invites and decoations that could go along with this pan. They have 1st birthday for boys and girls that have a cupcake theme. Have fun!

I think this is cute and a way different way to make baking fun, I also think that its cute for V-Day with that red velvet mix and 1st b-days and just to make someones day! I have checked it out and they are in stock! So I plan on getting one for a friend and myself! Awesome item!!!! A+++

I ordered this pan a few days ago and I am hoping I can make it come out as cute as the picture. Any ideas on how to serve it? How would you cut it?

Yea! My first Christmas present for the season! This looks awesome :-) Thanks for the mention in the magazine, I had to come and check it out!

WHERE DO YOU GET THAT ADORIBLE CUPCAKE PAN???

You can order this from Wilton.com. It is currently unavilable (for obvious reasons--it rocks!!). It costs $27.99. Here is the link: http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=4018F320-423B-522D-F5ECDA6F3A2ABB5E&fid=4018F33F-423B-522D-FBF3F54D6F66D28A

You can also order the large sprinkles from them. Just $3.99...here is the link to the sprinkles: http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=1829AFB8-423B-522D-F191C6A3B50232AD&fid=1829AFC7-423B-522D-FCBA4AC8D0021955

Enjoy :)

You can also order it here. They have them in stock and the sprinkles too.

Has anyone made this cake? How did you ice it? The directions above are for a different pan. I want it to be as cute as the picture. HELP!

I don't think you need to buy the special sprinkles. You can just use Necco wafers.

OMG that is just so cute i just have to have it for my daughter's 1st birthday . they should sell it in stores cause there sold out online . ill just die if i dont have one. JK haha. but still its sooooooo cool.

I love this pan! I don't usually go to the websites listed in magazines, but I just couldn't pass this up. My daughtrer just had her third birthday last month, but I am still going to order it for her birthday next year. Very cute

They are out of stock at Wilton, but in stock at the Sur la Table website listed above. I just ordered one!

I notice that the Wilton recipe is for a chocolate pound cake. Do you think this could be done with a carrot cake?--I don't want to shred all those carrots, just to find out it didn't really work.

THIS IS SO COOL. I HAVE TO GET ONE.

WHAT ARE NECCO WAFERS? WHERE DO YOU GET THEM?

Necco Wafers are more like a candy. In fact, they can be found in any gas station in the candy section. They are wrapped in wax type paper in a role.

I just purchased the pan for my daughter's 2nd b-day. Has anyone made the cupcake using a box cake mix? If so, how many boxes will I need? I'm not a good baker so I need all the help I can get:)

Uggh La Sur won't have them until Oct 26th...Too late for my son's 1st b-day. Does anyone know if they will be in stores?

I would love to find this pan. Not available on either sites mentioned. Help if you know of any where else.

Love this too! Wilton also makes another cupcake CAKE pan that creates more of a flat cupcake, as opposed to the 3-dimensional one....just thought I would pass that on to anyone else who now has the cupcake idea in their head! (and can't find anywhere that is selling the pan!) I found it at my local Michaels store! I baked my cake today (practice birthday cake) and it turned out really cute too!

Don't forget that cake specialty places aren't your only options! Check out Amazon for free shipping also! Happy baking!!
