The president asks us to spend $195 billion a year on Iraq's civil war, but threatens a veto on kids' health insurance. It's a question of priorities, and family values.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm proud to see that one of my senators (Evan Bayh) was one of the authors of the renewal legislation.
I've written my letters and emailed my posse. Let's hope some momentum can break this logjam.
And, why, oh why, isn't this stuff leading the news?

Yes, let's expand the government's control of health care and drive up the cost of private insurance even more. I encourage you to investigate what this legislation will actually do and not just support it because it's "for the children."

SS: Sometimes not funding preventative care equates higher end costs for everyone by creating more emergency medical situation that end up being financially devastating (to taxpayers, hospitals, and individuals). If health care were under some realistic controls (as in other developed nations) we might not be facing the wave of bankruptcies that are destabilizing international markets.
Please explain how exactly this legislation increases the cost of private insurance.
As AJ observes, there is far more cost-cutting potential in military budgets- why do we need to cut EXISTING children's programs?
