Meet

You've probably gotten to know us through our posts—but in case you need a cheat sheet, here's your GoodyBlog who's who:

If asked what single object she couldn’t live without on a deserted island, lifestyle editor Amanda Kingloff would say her cordless glue gun...without hesitation. Life at work for Amanda is all about glitter, pom-poms, and re-purposing paper plates and toilet roll tubes. And come to think of it, life at home is much the same. Joys of her job include (but are not limited to): finding googly eyes in desk drawers, re-learning the marvel of making paper snowflakes, and taking the subway home with the natural sparkle of glitter on her face.
Media editor Amanda Wolfe (who just posts as "Amanda"—>see above) is a nerd who is embarrassed to admit that her laptop is known as "the precious" at her house (and if you get that reference, you're a nerd too). She likes parentheses (a lot), reading way too many blogs, well-designed kids' gear, everything that is cute and good in this world, Jeopardy, digging in bins for cheap but fabulous clothes, coolness, and starting (but only sometimes finishing) decorating projects for her apartment.
Senior editor Barrie Gillies is basically obsessed with her 2-year-old son Will. And he’s basically her beat: scoping out anything Will can play with, listen to, eat, or wear. Plus she likes figuring out how he thinks and what he dreams, why he acts up, and what makes him laugh. Being a mom is a fun adventure!
Senior editor David Sparrow began his career as a sportswriter and men’s magazine editor. Then he became a father, and kids—happily—became the center of his universe. He still loves sports, but now his athletic focus is coaching his 8-year-old son, Matthew, in baseball. His (almost) 3-year-old daughter, Isabella, may love ballet, gymnastics and pocketbooks, but as his posts will display, this dynamo is far from a girly girl. David spends weekends hanging with his kids in the playground. He welcomes fun ideas and products for fathers, and he’d love to hear from all you involved dads out there.
Diane Debrovner, the mom of 2-year-old Jane and 14-year-old Abby, is learning every day how much toddlers and teens have in common. Her husband, Daniel, who was a serious blog reader before she even knew what a blog was, frequently passes along cool ideas to post. Diane is always looking for brilliant products to make busy life easier and more fun, as well as fast dinner recipes that everyone in the family agrees are delicious. She’s the health and psychology editor and has been at Parents for 12 years.
Associate editor Janna Oberdorf is an ex-dancer turned magazine editor who now lives vicariously through the 5-year-olds in tutus that she teaches on the weekends. When she’s not helping to build the Rockette cast of 2030, she’s a sucker for cupcakes, kitchen tools, pretty design, silly YouTube videos, ellipses... and any and all cooking or food-related TV shows.
Fueled by a steady diet of Starbucks, senior editor Jessica Brown spends her days covering health, manners, and the never-a-dull-moment toddler stage for Parents. She’s also a certified personal trainer, a hopeless TV addict, and has more pictures of her celebrity crushes on her bulletin board than anyone over the age of 15 should.
John J. O'Sullivan is the staff computer nerd at Parents (our art production associate). When not rocking out in the Adobe Creative Suite, he is either commuting or cooking. He is fascinated by kitchen gadgets and technology, Internet mêmes, shiny things, foodie fodder, and anything that is awesome. He's married to his best friend and is the father of two cats. His favorite colour is PMS 1837 and his favorite emotion is bemusement.
Assistant managing editor Josh Helmin is our Goody Gossip Guru. Every Monday he has the scoop on what you need to know about celebrity parents and their
prodigious offspring. A long-time entertainment and pop culture blogger and talking-head commentator, Josh can most often be found with a stack of the latest DVDs, a great book, or hunkered down with a pile of guilty-pleasure celeb glossies.
Senior editor Judy Goldberg lives in a group house in Park Slope, Brooklyn with 14-year-old Julius and 9-year-old Oliver (both devastatingly brilliant, sweet, and awesome), one seriously hot husband Matt, Molly the dog, and two cats (Turbo and Gamma). For a long time she tried to be “cool” and “hip” but recently discovered her inner geek and now revels in it on a daily basis. Rarely seen without her laptop—affectionately known as “lappie” around the house—she loves to blog, read blogs, and play Scrabble and Scatagories competitively against her kids. When not doing all of the above she’s loving on people who do ingenious things out of stuff like Legos and baked goods
In her next life, executive editor Kate Lawler will have an unlimited shoe allowance. In her current life, she is a huge fan of modern baby gear, cute kids' clothes that don't have cartoon characters on them, and innovative craft and DIY projects
Kourtney Eidam, loves long walks on the beach, great conversations, and…oh wait, that’s her Match.com profile. Scratch that! Kourtney, the magazine’s news editor, is a big pop-culture buff, who employs her once-useless knowledge of TV, movies, and all things entertainment-related to blog. She has six nieces and nephews, and three of them are old enough to have MySpace pages (but sadly, only two will “friend” her).
Articles editor Mary C. Hickey feels like her whole life has revolved around kids:  Growing up as the second oldest in a family of 8 kids; covering family issues as a reporter, TV producer, writer and editor; and most of all raising two pretty amazing children—Max and Annie-Rose—both of whom are now in college! (How did that happen? Just yesterday they were toddling around the backyard!) But now that they’re busy studying in the library (as if!), Mary has become a total news junkie and follows politics like most Americans follow football (which she—and her practically-perfect husband Fred— don’t follow at all!) So she likes to blog about news stories and policy issues relating to kids.
Assistant editor Rachel Morris wishes: she could accommodate a Great Dane or a Lab in her Manhattan apartment; she had more time to prepare over-the-top dinner parties; she lived in Hawaii.
She actually: owns a fish she’s not particularly fond of; eats inhuman amounts of mac-n-cheese; considers a subway ride to Coney Island an “exotic getaway.”
She also: gets way too excited about Storm Stories, lip gloss, the Red Sox, sharks, cake, road trips, Fraggle Rock, 80s rock bands (the bigger the hair, the better!) and Halloween costumes.
You probably know senior associate editor Rebecca Felsenthal as your trusty Goodyblogger who gathers weekly news links to keep you well-informed of family-related trends, research, and happenings. But when she’s not scouring the newspapers and websites for these tidbits, you can find her running, spinning (yes, she’s a bit health obsessed), reading celebrity news, and perusing fashion and design sites.
Ron Kelly (special guest star) dotes on his nephew T.J. and niece Melanie. While they are 11 and 6 years old respectively, and he is... well, older... most would agree that he has the least mature sense of humor. He has a penchant for offbeat news stories, entertainment reporting, tennis, bad puns, parentheticals, fine chocolates, goats, and squirrels (but only if they’re sober). He also has two cats, who openly resent him.
Ruth Hannon, assistant to the editor-in-chief, enjoys blogging about beauty booty and anything her 2-year-old nephew, Patrick, would love! Random fact that's very exciting for his aunt and assorted fan club members: Patrick was the adorable pumpkin on the Parents October 2006 cover!
After recently jumping on the tree hugger bandwagon, assistant editor Taryn Jedlicka has developed great affection for all things eco-friendly yet practical. She can be found browsing the Web for sweet and simple kids’ toys and room décor and believes anything can be personalized. Taryn loves the color yellow, digital cameras, beautiful throw pillows, power tools, homemade vanilla cupcakes, and sharing her great product finds!
When Parents staffers are having a hair or nail emergency, they turn to beauty editor Tracy Perez. A self-proclaimed beauty junkie, she has trouble finding room in her tiny studio apartment for her impressive collections of lip gloss, shampoo and face cream. In her spare time, she enjoys trolling celebrity gossip blogs, playing with her friend’s adorable 1-year-old son, Brendan, and petting every cute dog she passes on the street.
