A Gold-Medal Lip Gloss

Lipglossgoldenglossb Yves Saint Laurent Golden Gloss has been my go-to gloss for over a year now. Let me count the reasons. First, I always get compliments when I wear it. This past weekend in fact, my friend asked if she could put some on when we were at another friend's bridal shower. Second, the gloss is infused with—get this—real gold. .2 percent of 24 carats to be exact. Those little gold flecks give lips a fullness and a certain...je ne sais quoi I just haven't found with other glosses. At $28 it's definitely a splurge, but trust me, the compliments that will ensue make it worth every penny. It's available in 13 shades. Golden Peony (#10) is my personal fave.

A Very Beautiful Partnership

Natures_gate Wateraid Nature's Gate made its mark in the natural beauty business more than 30 years ago when the company's founders hand-collected rainwater and blended it with natural herbs to create their bestselling Rainwater shampoo. Now, in recognition of the importance of rainwater to the earth and its desire to give back, the company is partnering with WaterAid America to fund the building of sustainable water systems in underdeveloped countries like Africa and Asia. It's a sad, sad fact, but the lack of clean, safe drinking water is estimated to kill almost 5,000 children per day. Through this partnership, Nature's Gate is donating $100,000 in addition to 5% of the sales of its holiday gift sets (on shelves in November). Great Green Sale!

300Just in time for Earth Day, drugstore.com has slashed up to 40% off the price of tons of their earth-friendly goods—and you'll even get a 10% credit back on every green or natural product you buy. Our pick from the baby & kids section: Seventh Generation's unscented baby wipes with aloe vera and vitamin E. This refill pack of 80 wipes is just $3.84. (I'm also loving the typo in the product description: "Unlike many traditional baby wipes, ours are not bleached with chlorine and do not contain alcohol or synthetic ingredients that can irate baby's skin." Well, I guess you would have an irate baby if his skin was irritated.) The sale ends on April 25th.

The Coolest Hair Makeover Website

Hairmix Whether you're in the market for a new haircut or just need to inject a bit of fun into your day, Hairmixer.com is worth a click! The site allows you to swap the face in one photo to another, then magically matches the skin tone to the new hair color for a very accurate representation. It's the perfect way to see what you'd look like with Reese Witherspoon's bangs before you make the cut. And unlike other hair makeover sites, this one allows you to upload any photo (you can also choose from the site's impressive inventory of celeb shots). So if you've ever wanted to know what Will Smith would look like with Carrie Underwood's flowing blonde tresses, well, now you can!

Get a Fab Mommy Makeover!

Makeoverfinal_3 Our friends at The Body Shop have agreed to do a fab makeover for one of our loyal GoodyBlog readers. You'll go to the store, have a pro makeup artist give you a lovely new look, AND score all of the Body Shop's new spring products, plus some classic essentials. A GoodyBlog crew (at least our beauty guru Tracy and myself—Amanda W.) will also be coming along to film the outing, and we'll post a cute little video of your mommy makeover after the fact. Fun, right?!

Here's the catch! We're in New York, so our lucky lady will need to be in the NYC area or be able to get here fairly easily. (Tracy and I dearly wish we could take the show on the road and travel all over the country to you guys but alas, we can't—at least this time.)

So if you're still in, here are the deets: It would be sometime during the day (we can work with your schedule) on either Wednesday April 30th or Thursday May 1. If you're interested, shoot me an email at editors@goodyblog.com by April 11 and we'll work out the specifics. If lots of moms are interested (we hope!) we'll pick the lucky mommy makeover recipient at random. So to recap: Get hot! Get free beauty goodies! Be a GoodyBlog star! Sound good? Email us!

Steal vs. Splurge Beauty

Dailyfacial_cream    Moisturizer_whitebackground
Here's a question for all you ladies... when it comes to your beauty products do you tend to go for the drugstore cheapies or splurge at Sephora? Luckily, there are great products out there to match any budget. For example,if you're shopping for a face lotion that's not going to break the bank, try JASON Fragrance Free Daily Facial Cream ($12), which is fantastic for sensitive skin; vitamin E provides antioxidant protection, and Canadian willowherb and cucumber extracts soothe dry skin and reduce redness. Got some extra pocket money to spend? Check out Bieux Skin Bionaturals 24 Hour Treatment Moisturizer ($97). This cream works wonders, providing long-lasting hydration while improving skin brightness, firmness, texture and tone. What products are you okay spending a little extra on, or would you rather save the cash for something else?

Baby, It's Balmy Outside

Lip_action_balms_kiss_my_face_300_d I'm a lip balm junkie. I probably apply the stuff thirty times a day. So I love that I can help both my lips and the environment with Kiss my Face Lip Action. For every lip balm purchased, one dollar will be donated to the Alliance for Climate Protection, an organization founded by Vice President Al Gore to educate people about the climate crisis. The pucker protectors, like all Kiss My Face products, are all-natural, and have fun names like Berry Warm and Mango Melt. Buy the brilliant balms online or at Whole Foods.
