Little Bunny Frou Frou

869735_l It's Easter this weekend, and I'm absolutely in love with this little girl's Bunny Costume from FAO Schwarz (found via GiftRap). I think that any little girl in a tutu is probably the cutest thing on earth... but add some bunny ears and a tail and we're reaching cute overload. The FAO Schwarz $105 price tag definitely isn't wallet-friendly, but this costume seems like something you could easily DIY at home. (And if you do—please send us the adorable pictures!) Happy Easter!

It's Peeps Season!

445647225_89f0a2c8bcIt's funny how people either can't get enough of Peeps or find them so repulsive they can't even imagine taking a nibble of a beak. I, for one, am a Peeps fanatic, and with Easter around the corner am in a yellow, sugary, marshmallowy heaven. When I expressed my Peeps passion to a friend yesterday, he declared  that only Circus Peanuts could top them for worst candy creation ever. Sigh. Whether or not you like Peeps, you'll get a kick out of the hysterical dioramas from Peep Show.

Yummy Easter Basket For Babies

Easterbsktlg It's no secret that I'm obsessed with anything and everything felt, so when I spotted this handmade felt Easter basket from the Baby Gardner on Cool Mom Picks, I just had to share. Not only is it seriously adorable, the treats inside are totally sugar-free. Sweet.

Easter Egg Hunt for Big Kids

Mooeggs_2 Easter is only a few weeks away (weird, right? It's so early this year!) and Moo—our fave printing site—is already celebrating. They're having an online easter egg hunt by posting clues in their blog and "hiding" eggs on lots of other sites, like BoingBoing, Timbuk2, and Facebook. The best part? Prizes, of course! They have more than 3,500 goodies lined up for lots of lucky winners. I'm off to hunt!

Fat Super Pancake Tuesday!

Bunnypancake It's Mardi Gras, and we all know what that means: PANCAKES!

No, I don't mean booze or beads—I mean pancakes. My wife and I have a tradition of pancakes for supper on Fat (or Shrove) Tuesday. The day is a time to "live it up" before the beginning of the penitential season of Lent.

So, how do pancakes fit into the equation of irrational exuberance? The reasons (and an excellent pancake recipe) follow below the cut.

PARENTS in Iraq

Easter_gifts1Guess what the must-read mag is among our troops in Iraq!  Playboy (for the articles- wink!)? People?! National Enquirer?  Surprise! Yours truly is on the top of the list! Read on!

Photo editor Laurence P. Mitchell's brother is serving in Iraq. He recently sent Colonel Chuck and his fellow officers tons of Easter candy... and a copy of Parents magazine. Here's what Chuck had to say: "I share it [the mag] with all my friends. A good buddy has a 2-year-old and he told me today his son is now potty trained! Big news for a faraway dad! The little boy has a 'daddy doll' —the face is a digital picture of his dad with a big smile. It's really cute - I want to get a 'husband doll' for Dorothee [Chuck's wife back in Austin]."

Let's not forget that there are a lot of dads—and moms—serving our country overseas. We hope for their quick and safe return.

If you don't personally know anyone serving, there are a number of websites through which you can show your support. We like soldiersangels.org.

It's a Peeps Show

Ph2007040500870 Oh my gosh... SO FUNNY SO FUNNY SO FUNNY!!!  We all know that Easter and Peeps go hand-in-hand, but these clever, crafty folks took that connection to a whole new level.  Here are the winners and semi-finalists for the Sunday Source Peeps Diorama Contest thanks to my favorite blog: Quipsologies"Peeps Are a Girl's Best Friend" is this year's winner, but not in my book.  Although I do think Girl's Best Friend is adorable and very creative... I laughed out loud when I saw Peeping Peeps.  Which diorama do you think should win the Peeple's Choice Award?

I can almost taste next year's Easter project with the kids!

Living On the Edge

Home_pananim I'm really weird—I don't really like chocolate very much (I know... gasp!), but I LOVE brownies.  They're probably as chocolatey as you can get, but throw a scoop of ice cream on top and some whip cream and I'll finish a whole pan.  I even had one yesterday as my Easter treat to myself.  But I know there's a divide among the brownie troops—are you an edge-lover or an ooey-gooey middle-square fiend?  Me—I'm the ooey-gooey type.  But edge-lovers everywhere can rejoice at this amazing invention: The Edge Brownie Pan.  It's a 9"x13" pan that has 70% more edge surface area than the conventional pan.  That means that every single brownie square will have at least two chewy edges.  Yum yum.  Maybe this is the best of both worlds?
