The Giant Cupcake Strikes Back!!

Cupakecollage
Ever since we blogged about the infamous Wilton giant cupcake cake pan, our readers have been whipping up their own. It's been awhile since we've shared their (seriously impressive) baking skillz, so we bring you eight more examples of rockin' reader giant cupcakes.

  • Adrienne Tsang shares an awesome tip: "I froze the 2 pieces overnight before trimming the top/bottom so they would sit flat. It also helped to have it frozen for the frosting process." Good to know!
  • Jenny Lee says "All in all it was much easier than I would've thought! My son was especially AMAZED at his mommy's skills. For now I will hide my cupcake pan and let him think his mommy is truly amazing!"
  • Roxanne Blake made her giant cupcake for her daughter's first birthday, and says "Everyone loved it!"
  • Katherine Loflin had never baked a cake in a mold before, but says it turned out "so cute!"
  • Kimberly Hoerner let her daughter call the shots: "My daughter asked for this cake for her birthday and she sat there and told me how she wanted it decked out."
  • Michele Myers is a pro: This is her second attempt at the big guy. The first time she used the recipe that came with the pan, but this time she went for a boxed cake mix.

Rockin' Reader: Awesome Giant Cupcake

Firstbirthdaycupcake2_2

Presenting Elaine Ashton's work of art! Here's what she had to say

I saw the cake on the GoodyBlog and had to have one even though I need another specialty baking pan like I need less sleep, but I thought it would be a fun cake to make for my daughter's first birthday. It turned out really well and, although she didn't seem all that enthused about a chocolate cake, my husband and I enjoyed it. :) It's a fun pan that remarkably bakes both sides evenly in spite of the difference in shape and volume in the two halves. Lots of fun making it. Thanks so much for the idea!

Rockin Reader: Another Giant Cupcake!

Kks_cake

Lorna Hall writes: Here is the picture of my cupcake-cake. It was so fun and my daughter loved it! We used red velvet cake on the bottom and strawberry on the top. To cut we left the cakes together and just made tall slivers. FABULOUS!!!

Giant Cupcake: Rockin' Reader Version

Supercupcake1_3

Back in July we wrote about the now famous giant cupcake pan from Wilton. There has been much discussion in the comments about creating this awesome cake (100 +) comments! Now our Rockin' Reader Melinda Dragicevich has sent us a photo of her super sized cupcake along with how she made it:

Attached are some pictures of a cake that I made last weekend with my cupcake pan.
The top half used about 3 cups of cake mix & the bottom about 3.5 cups. Baked at 325 for 65 minutes. I frosted it with my Wilton Dessert Decorator Pro, and piped the icing around the top using the star tip.

Hope this helps anyone who is looking to bake this cake

Wow! This looks so great! Has anyone else made one? If so will you send us a pic? Thanks Melinda!
