Huge Puppets Attack London - Film at 11.

Elephantnew1 According to PhobiaList.com, "Pupaphobia" is the fear of puppets. And according to what I found at the Athanasius Kircher Society's website, perhaps pupaphobics have a valid point.

The Sultan's Elephant is a huge puppet show put on by the French street theatre company, Royal de Luxe. The show consists of a humongous little girl and a ginormous elephant, walking down the street, doing girly/elephanty things.

According to the wikipedia article on Royal de Luxe, the last time this has been performed was London in 2006, so the pupaphobics of the world can rest easy—for now.

Mother's Day Dilemma

Jar I love my mother. I really do. She's the kind of mom who sends her almost 30-year-old daughter a care package out of the blue--for no other reason than to say "Hi" or "I love you." It's very, very sweet. The problem is...how can I put this delicately?...she sends me crap that I will never, ever use. Case in point, this aesthetically interesting (read: ugly) candy jar. If you can't tell, it's a cat with a butterfly on its nose and a flower garden apparently sprouting from its lap. And oh yeah, the best part: You can cross and uncross its dangling legs (because we all know how much cats care about sitting in a proper ladylike fashion). I already said as much to her, but she still insists "It's the cutest thing ever!" Don't get me wrong: I appreciate the gesture. It's just that you would think the woman would know me better after 30 years. Right? Well, that was my initial reaction. But now Mother's Day is quickly approaching, and I have no idea what to get her. Go figure. Last year, I gave her a blender, which is collecting dust in her closet, and then there's the foot massager from the year before that she re-gifted. I thought about a gift certificate, but she would just spend that on me (and I really don't want a repeat of the candy-jar incident). I'm determined to find her the perfect M-Day present, especially after my rant about her lack of gift-giving skills. But I need YOUR help. Send me suggestions for a great gift. It can be one that you got and loved or one that you gave to your mom. Four days and counting, people! Help a blogger out!

By the way, I did find one use for the jar. Some of the GoodyBlog girls had a blast posing with it around the office.
